What to expect at your first physiotherapy assessment

DocFit Team·January 12, 2026

Walking into a physiotherapy clinic for the first time can feel uncertain, especially if you're not sure what a session actually involves. At DocFit, the first assessment is built to remove that uncertainty from the very first minute.

We start with a conversation: what's bothering you, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you're hoping to get back to — a sport, a job, simply sleeping through the night. This context shapes everything that follows.

Next comes a physical examination — checking movement, strength, and the specific patterns that reproduce or ease your symptoms. This is assessment-led care: we don't reach for a technique until the exam has told us why it's the right one.

By the end of the 45–60 minute visit, you'll leave with a plain-language explanation of what we found and a realistic plan — including an honest estimate of how many sessions it's likely to take. No referral is required to book.
